Sam's Foot

On Monday I received a call early in the morning from Sam saying "Don't be alarmed, but I am going to have to go to the hospital, or doctors office or something, because I smashed my foot" Come to find out he was at work and they were carrying a large rock (Sam's estimates that it weighed 300 lbs about). He told the boys that if they were tired, to let him know so they could set it down and take a break. Well a few minutes later, the boys said "we're tired. 1-2-3 drop" and they dropped the rock. Sam was mid stride, the rock fell and it was forced out of his hands and onto his foot. He was beginning to think that it was just bruised, but after visiting Insta-Care, and after X-Rays, we found out his big toe has 3 fractures in it. He has to see a specialist because the fracture runs through his joint, so we will be going there next week to make sure it will heal properly. His foot is also REALLY swollen. Usually you can see his bones across the top of his foot, and now you can't. And his skin feels SO tight across there! All the way up to his ankle. It seriously looks like he has cankles. :-) And now I have to wrap it 3-4 times a day, and make sure the hole in his toenail doesn't get an infection. Bleh. But, of course I had to take pictures. Warning, it is kind of gross, so only look if you don't have a weak stomach. :-)

This is his toe. Sam NEVER bruises, so to see it bruised this bad was suprising. They had to put a hole in his nail to drain the blood, so that is why the hole is there. The bruise runs all the way to his middle toe. You can't really see it in this picture, but it does.
This is a picture from the underside of his foot. You can see from here that it runs across the toes.
This is his toe on Tuesday. The bruising is a little bit worse, but still about the same.
This is from the top. A lot of blood got pressed up to the top of his foot, so he has like blood blisters at the top of his feet.
So there you have it. That is his foot. And you wouldn't think, but he has to wear a boot, and use crutches when he can, and has to have it booted for 6-8 weeks. Yeah..a TOE! But alas, I guess it hurts. When Sam ALMOST cries, I know there is pain. ;-) So that has been our week. Yee haw!

And please keep praying for us to get this job in Virginia. It would help us out a ton. So please pray that we get it!

Owie owie owie!!!!!!!! Is his job paying for the medical bills? That just looks painful. And for bruises to show up that well in a picture, they have to be bad! Because I have tried to take pictures of bruises and they never turn out.
